Several of our Community Policing Officers worked with volunteers from AmeriCorps and Advisors Excel providing traffic control and some muscle!
The Topeka Police Department’s Community Police Officers will be providing and assisting with the installation of anti-theft license plate screws on Wednesday, June 15th between 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at both Community Police offices, located at 2345 SE 25th St. and 2209 SW 29th St.
The Hive Five Tour 2016 came through Topeka to raise awareness and support for families of wounded warriors and while here, recognized TPD Officer Heusted who served in the US Army and did three tours to Iraq and TPD Officer VanDonge who also served in the army and toured in Iraq.
Congratulations to those who were promoted today – OFC Matt McClimans to Detective, DET Adam Arensdorf to Sergeant, and CPL Eddie Stanley to Sergeant. Thank you for all you do, and a special thanks to the families for your support!

The TPD Honor Guard opened the 50th Anniversary Commemoration of the 1966 Tornado at Washburn University. “Twist of Fate” was sponsored by the Topeka Capital Journal. Bill Kurtis, the WIBW broadcaster during the original incident, was on hand to speak and answer questions from attendees.
