The Topeka Police Department in partnership with The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Officer is applying for the 2017 Byrne JAG grant. This grant is for $69,398 to be split equally between the Police and Sheriff’s Department.
The Police Department will be purchasing equipment to assist officers in the testing of unknown substances. This equipment will enable officers to determine the contents of substances that can potentially be harmful or deadly if handled and/or inhaled.
The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office will acquire enhanced software that will automatically tag videos from body worn cameras with data from our computer aided dispatch system.
