TPD makes arrest in recent Business burglaries

TOPEKA, Kan.-  An arrest, with others possibly pending, has been made in connection with two recent business burglaries. The two businesses, one in the 2800 Blk SW Wanamaker and the second in the 2600 Blk NE Sardou were reported July 29th and through investigation found to involve the same suspects.

Robert Reeves III, 31, of Dallas Tx was transported to Shawnee County DOC on two charges each of Burglary, theft, and criminal damage. A vehicle involved was located and seized. Search warrants were conducted on the vehicle and area hotel rooms, recovering evidence to identify others involved who are also from out of the area.

Murphys Express Robbery

TOPEKA, Kan. – On Thursday July 6, 2017, Officers responded to Murphy’s Express 1531 SW Wanamaker re; a robbery. A Black/Male subject armed with a baseball bat entered the store and demanded money from the clerk/cash registers.
The clerk complied and gave him the cash (Undisclosed Amount) from the registers.

Homicide Suspect Arrested

TOPEKA, Kansas:

At approximately 0830 on June 30, 2017, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a suspicious person near 13th and Rice Road in Jefferson County.  Deputies responded and located Pedro Enriquez-Corral Sr.  Those same deputies recognized him and knowing there was an outstanding warrant for 1st Degree Murder, they were able to make an arrest without incident.

 

Pedro Enriquez-Corral Sr. was transported and booked into the Jefferson County jail on his warrant.  The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office notified the Topeka Police Department that an arrest had been made and the PT Cruiser the suspect was associated with had been located.  Officers and Detectives of the Topeka Police Department assisted the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office with the processing of the area where the PT Cruiser was located.

 

Pedro Enriquez-Corral Sr. was transported back to Topeka to speak with Detectives and then booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections.

 

Today’s arrest highlights the value in reporting suspicious activity to law enforcement.  Remember, if you “see something, say something.”

UPDATE** The scene has been cleared- Ft Riley has transported the device to dispose of it safely.
TOPEKA, Kan.- at approximately 0900 the Topeka Police Department was notified of a suspicious device north of the 1st and Jackson area. A local contracting company had been exploring ground for a project and located what appeared to be old military ordinance.
The Topeka Police Departments Bomb Unit is on scene and in taking all necessary precautions support from FT Rileys EOD unit has been requested and is enroute.
Surrounding streets have been blocked off to ensure safety .
Informational updates will be sent as the situation is resolved.

 

UPDATE 1136am June 30,2017- TPD Bomb Unit has checked the area in which the device was located and has found nothing further.

TOPEKA, Kan.- At approximately 1030 in the morning on June 28th, Topeka Police officers responded to a business in the 700 Blk SW Gage in reference to a possible robbery. Employees state a white male, mid 30’s, wearing a white t-shirt and blue shorts entered the business, indicated a weapon and demanded money. The subject left on foot east from the business.

Update on Home Invasion

The Topeka Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance in the 100 block of NE 24 Highway. Upon arrival they found a home invasion had occurred and an adult male victim was located. He was suffering from injuries that are considered to be life threatening at this time and was transported to a local hospital by AMR.

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Allen Wichman, 66 of Topeka. Howard Dale Burchfiel, 31 of Topeka was arrested for aggravated battery, and aggravated burglary in relation to this incident and a weapons charge from a prior case.

Secuestro agravado

TOPEKA, Kansas:

En aproximadamente 0700 en 07 de junio de 2017, el Departamento de policía de Topeka se hizo consciente de un secuestro.

Actualmente, estamos buscando Viviana Vázquez, 33 años de edad mujer, que fue tomada en su contra esta mañana por Pedro Enríquez, hombre de 38 años Topeka de Topeka. Ambas personas se conocen entre sí.

Eran últimos vistos saliendo de la 1300 SW Garfield esta mañana en un Chrysler PT Cruiser placa licencia de Kansas 057JJU.  Adjunta se muestran imágenes del vehículo real así como ambas personas.

ACTUALIZACIÓN de información:

En aproximadamente 17:15 oficiales estaban en el área de residencia del Sr. Enriquez en la  SW Roosevelt Blk 400 en preparación de servir a una orden de allanamiento. Al observando la residencia, oficiales vieron lo que creían ser movimiento en el interior. Establecieron un perímetro y pidieron ayuda. El equipo de SWAT de TPD, los negociadores de Crisis respondieron y se trataron de comunicar con cualquier ocupantes de la residencia. Un robot con un dispositivo de comunicación entró en la residencia. Cuando no hubo comunicación el equipo de SWAT entro a la residencia y la encontraron desocupadas.

El TPD quiere agradecer a la oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Shawnee, TPDs manejo de emergencias y la Cruz Roja para ayudar en este incidente.
